Wildfire Status:

The Clair Fire, ignited by lightning on August 4, 2024, is currently active in the Sonoran Desert, specifically located 25 miles north of Scottsdale, Arizona, and south of Horseshoe Lake in the Cave Creek Ranger District. As of the latest update, the fire has burned approximately 2,170 acres and is 98% contained. The firefighting efforts have been effective, with minimal active fire behavior observed. The personnel involved in managing the incident currently numbers 14, and the fire has benefited from recent precipitation which has significantly reduced the fire's intensity.

Fire agencies have implemented a strategy focusing on monitoring the fire, initiating suppression repair, and preparing for any initial attack as necessary. Command of the incident was transferred to the Tonto National Forest on August 12, 2024.
