Wildfire Status:
The Fall Fire, located in the Gila River Indian Community, District 6, was reported on September 28, 2024, around 1:09 PM MST. The fire has burned through approximately 553 acres of salt cedar and mesquite fuels in the Salt River bottom and is currently 100% contained as of October 5, 2024. The incident posed a threat to around 10 homes, prompting evacuation orders for areas west of Santa Cruz Road. Fire agencies implemented a full suppression strategy, which included air attack responses. A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) was also established over the affected area as a precautionary measure.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the situation has stabilized with no further immediate threats to the surrounding community. As for the current weather conditions, the area is experiencing extremely high temperatures, reaching up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit, coupled with dry conditions which can pose challenges for fire containment and recovery efforts.
Overall, the effective response from fire agencies and favorable containment efforts have brought the Fall Fire under control, allowing for the safe return of evacuated residents and a focus on recovery and monitoring for any potential flare-ups.
