The Jones Fire is 100% contained at 84 acres. All resources have been released and the incident was turned back over to the Wickenburg Fire Department for any further monitoring. All objectives have been met, including fence repair and dozer line rehabilitation. There is no heat remaining along the fire's edge and no visible smokes showing.
On Friday, crews finished all chainsaw operations and continued line improvement and mop up along the southwest side of the fire. Today's work also included repairing dozer line within the river bottom to clean it up and restore the area to its natural state.
Starting today, Stage 1 fire restrictions are in place within State Trust lands in Gila, Maricopa, and Pinal Counties. For fire restriction information: WildlandFire.az.gov.
The US 60 is fully open. Drivers should use caution through the area as engines continue to work alongside the road.
The Jones Fire was reported on May 11 burning approximately 1 mile southeast of Wickenburg, AZ. Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) is in command of the fire. The fire is burning in the Hassayampa River bottom in salt cedar, cottonwood, grass and brush.
Forward progression was stopped at 6:35pm on May 11. The fire is under full suppression.
