Wildfire Status:

The Point Fire, a human-caused wildfire currently under investigation, is actively burning 5 miles northeast of New River near West Point Mountain. As of September 14, 2024, the fire has grown to 5,664 acres with 42% of its perimeter contained. Firefighters are facing challenging conditions as they work in rocky and difficult terrain, but all firelines are reportedly holding. While there are no communities immediately threatened, the public is advised to avoid Forest Road 41 and the Cottonwood (Spur Cross) Trailhead during suppression efforts, and to remain vigilant about fire updates.
