2024 - Point Fire (AZTNF)

Wildfire Status:

The Point Fire, an active wildfire located approximately 5 miles northeast of New River near West Point Mountain, is currently being managed by firefighting crews. The fire, which is human-caused and under investigation, has consumed an area of 5,154 acres. As of the latest reports, the fire's perimeter is fully contained at 100%. Firefighters are operating in challenging rocky terrain, and there are 12 personnel, 6 engines, and additional resources on order to assist with suppression efforts.

There are no immediate threats to nearby communities, but residents are urged to stay informed and adhere to updates from local emergency agencies. The public is advised to avoid Forest Road 41 and the Cottonwood (Spur Cross) Trailhead while firefighting operations are underway. Travelers on Spur Cross Road should remain vigilant for fire personnel and vehicles in the area.
