2024 - West Fire - TNF (AZTNF)

Wildfire Status:

The West Fire, caused by lightning, is currently active four miles northeast of Pine, Arizona, and has reached a containment level of 39%. The incident is being managed under a confine and contain strategy, which aims to protect private lands and nearby communities such as Camp Geronimo and Geronimo Estates. This approach is designed not only to minimize the immediate threat to these areas but also to reintroduce fire into the local ecosystem. The management of the fire includes reducing hazardous fuels, improving watershed conditions, and enhancing wildlife habitats, ultimately aiming to decrease the risk of future high-severity wildfires.
