The Corner Pocket started late in the morning on March 15, 2026, approximately 4 miles northwest of Claredon, Texas and was initially responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters, aircraft and heavy equipment. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department. There were evacuations for residents on the south side of Green Belt Lake that were lifted at 5:27 pm on 3/15/26.
As of 1:06 pm 3/16/26, forward progression of the fire was stopped. Firefighters are continuing to patrol and have not reported any concerns.
The fire is 100% contained as of the evening of March 16, 2026. This is the last planned update for this fire.
