The Old Mill Fire started early in the afternoon on March 17, 2026 and is located approximately 9 miles northwest of Amarillo, Texas. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters, aircraft and heavy equipment. Texas A&M Forest Service and Potter County fire department are working on structure protection.
Previous evacuations for residents along Old Mill Road and Stoneview have been LIFTED.
Forward progression of the fire has been stopped. Single engine air tankers have made successful drops on the fire. Dozers are working on line construction in the drainage.
As of 8:00 PM on 3/17/26, the fire is 100% contained. This is the last planned update for this fire.
