Lavender Fire is the 2nd-largest wildfire this season in Texas, burning 14 miles northeast of Vega.

Texas A&M Forest Service was requested for assistance in Oldham County on the afternoon of February 17th, 2026. The Lavender Fire started approximately 5 miles south of Boys Ranch along the US Highway 385 corridor. Texas A&M Forest Service resources are working in unified command with local resources.
An earlier voluntary evacuation order has increased to a mandatory order for Valley De Oro in northwest Potter County due to a fast moving fire, pushed by west winds sustained at 25-35 mph and gusting to 50 mph. A shelter at Church of Bushland, 1800 S. FM 2381, is open.
