Courtrock Fire (OR95S)

Wildfire Status:

The Courtrock Fire, which ignited on July 21, 2024, due to a lightning strike, is currently located approximately 7.1 miles south of Monument, Oregon. As of August 17, 2024, the fire has reached a size of 20,019 acres and is reported to be 100% contained. Full suppression tactics were employed to manage this wildfire, and the response has involved around 100 personnel. The fire is now transitioning to a Type 4 incident, with command being handed back to the local Oregon Department of Forestry.

The evacuation orders that were previously in place have been lifted, allowing residents to return to their homes. However, certain areas around the fire site remain closed to the public to ensure safety during ongoing fire suppression operations. Fire managers have implemented an area closure on the Blue Mountain Ranger District of the Malheur National Forest, which can be reviewed on their official website.

Weather conditions have played a significant role in the fire's behavior, with mixed conifer fuels present in the area that can easily ignite under moderate winds.
