Falls Fire (ORMAF)

Wildfire Status:

The Falls Fire, which ignited on July 10, 2024, is currently burning approximately 25 miles northwest of Burns, Oregon, within the Emigrant Creek Ranger District of the Malheur National Forest. The fire is fully contained, with 100% of its perimeter secured. Initial firefighting efforts faced significant challenges due to the difficult terrain and accessibility issues on the eastern side of the fire. However, a full suppression strategy has been adopted, employing a combination of direct, indirect, and point protection tactics where they can be effectively and safely executed. The fire is considered human-caused, and an ongoing investigation is underway.
