Wildfire Status:

The Devils Knob Fire, located approximately five miles southeast of Tiller, Oregon, has burned an area of 4,142 acres and is currently 70% contained. The incident began on September 5, 2024, and as of the latest update, 624 personnel are actively engaged in firefighting efforts. Fire behavior has largely been subdued, characterized mainly by smoldering and creeping, with minimal active flames. The primary sources of fire activity within the perimeter are stump holes and snags, producing low smoke levels.

Fire management strategies are focused on mop-up operations, suppression repair, and ensuring accountability of resources. The weather conditions have been favorable for containment, with recent high humidity and light precipitation contributing to the decrease in fire activity. The upcoming weather forecast indicates a warming and drying trend, with temperatures expected to rise to the upper 70s and relative humidity dropping to around 30%.
