Copperfield Fire (OR98S)

Wildfire Status:

The Copperfield Fire, located approximately 10 miles east of Chiloquin, Oregon, is currently active and has burned an estimated 3,822 acres. As of September 11, 2024, the fire is reported to be 94% contained, with containment efforts continuing. The incident began on September 1, 2024, and is being managed by a team of 553 personnel, including Incident Commander Tyler McCarty and Trainee Craig Pettinger. Despite significant progress in controlling the fire, heavy fuels within the perimeter continue to smolder, which necessitates ongoing mop-up operations.

Fire agencies are actively engaged in various response efforts, including assisting with initial attack measures within the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) area, as well as conducting snagging and repair work in affected zones.
