Lane 1 Fire (OR77S)

Wildfire Status:

The Lane 1 Fire, located approximately 6 miles southeast of Dorena, Oregon, has been active since July 17, 2024, when a lightning storm ignited eight separate fires that eventually merged into this larger incident. As of October 9, 2024, the fire has burned an estimated 25,952 acres and is reported to be 99% contained. The incident is currently under the command of the Northwest Complex Incident Management Team 7, which took control of the situation on September 13.

Firefighting efforts have involved a total of 92 personnel, who are working diligently to secure the fire perimeter and repair damage caused during suppression activities. Planned actions include the repair of handlines and dozer lines, the implementation of erosion prevention measures, and the removal of hazardous trees. Fire behavior has mostly been characterized by backing and smoldering, with occasional tree torching, indicating a relatively stable situation as the crews continue their containment operations.

Weather conditions have played a significant role in the fire's behavior, with limited perimeter growth expected in the coming days. The fuels involved primarily consist of timber, including litter and understory, which have contributed to the fire's intensity.
