Lane 1 Fire (OR77S)

Wildfire Status:

The Lane 1 Fire, located approximately 6 miles southeast of Dorena, Oregon, has been active since July 17, 2024, when it was ignited by a lightning storm that sparked eight separate fires. These fires eventually merged, resulting in the current incident. As of October 9, 2024, the fire has burned an area of 25,952 acres and is reported to be 99% contained, with firefighting efforts focused on securing the perimeter and repairing damage from suppression activities. The incident is currently overseen by the Northwest Complex Incident Management Team 7, which took command on September 13.

Firefighters continue to monitor and manage the situation, with a total of 92 personnel assigned to the incident. The fire's behavior has primarily involved backing and smoldering, with occasional tree torching reported. The planned actions include securing the fire perimeter, repairing handlines and dozer lines, and implementing erosion prevention measures, alongside the removal of hazardous trees. The estimated containment date was projected for October 1, 2024, but ongoing efforts are still in place to ensure full control of the fire.
