Wildfire Status:
The Boise Fire, located southeast of Orleans in the Six Rivers National Forest, has been active since it was first reported on August 9, 2024. As of September 7, 2024, the fire has burned approximately 12,913 acres and is currently 91% contained. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighting efforts have involved a total of 533 personnel, with operations focusing on suppression repair, particularly in the western portion of the fire area, to mitigate impacts on cultural and natural resources.
In terms of fire management, the Klamath National Forest and the North Coast Interagency Type 3 Team have taken command of their respective sides of the fire. Suppression repair operations have been completed on the eastern side, while snagging and chipping operations are ongoing. The entire fire area continues to be monitored for any potential growth, reflecting the ongoing commitment to controlling the situation.
Current weather conditions are favorable for firefighting efforts, featuring a slight cooling trend with temperatures in the mid to high 80s. Relative humidity is expected to remain in the mid-20s to high-30s, and winds are light and variable, which should help limit any significant fire spread. While fuel moistures are recovering, they still support creeping surface fire, but no significant spread is anticipated at this time.
