2024 Boise Fire (CASRF)

Wildfire Status:

The Boise Fire, currently active since its report on August 9, 2024, has grown to cover approximately 12,913 acres, with 91% of its perimeter contained. The fire is located near Le Perron Flat, southeast of Orleans, in the Boise Creek drainage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and fire management teams are actively engaged in suppression and monitoring efforts. As of September 7, 2024, a total of 533 personnel are involved in firefighting and support operations, with the Six Rivers and Klamath National Forests managing their respective areas of the incident.

In terms of response, suppression repair operations are ongoing, particularly on the fire's western side, with measures being taken to minimize impacts to cultural and natural resources. The eastern side has completed its suppression repairs. Snagging and chipping operations are also in progress to mitigate future risks. The incident command has transitioned to the local forest teams effective September 6, 2024, indicating a shift to localized management as containment improves.

Weather conditions are currently favorable for firefighting efforts, with a slight cooling trend bringing temperatures into the mid to high 80s. Relative humidity levels range from the mid-20s to high-30s, and winds are light and variable, primarily coming from the south. These conditions are supporting the recovery of fuel moistures, which should limit the potential for significant fire spread, allowing crews to focus on containment and suppression strategies. Overall, while the situation remains serious, the combination of effective management and favorable weather is aiding in the ongoing efforts to control the Boise Fire.
