2024 Boise Fire (CASRF)

Wildfire Status:

As of September 7, 2024, the Boise Fire has burned approximately 12,913 acres and is currently 91% contained. The fire, which was first reported on August 9, 2024, is located near Le Perron Flat in the Boise Creek drainage, approximately four miles southeast of Orleans. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Currently, there are 533 personnel actively working on the incident, with significant efforts focused on suppression repair operations, particularly on the western side of the fire, to minimize impacts to cultural and natural resources.

Fire management has transitioned to the Six Rivers and Klamath National Forests, which assumed command of their respective sides of the Boise Fire as of the evening of September 6, 2024. Suppression repair operations have been completed on the eastern side, while snagging and chipping operations continue throughout the fire area. The situation is being closely monitored for any signs of growth, although no significant spread is expected at this time.

Weather conditions are currently favorable for fire management efforts, with a slight cooling trend bringing temperatures in the mid to high 80s. Relative humidity is reported to be in the mid 20s to high 30s, and winds are light and variable from the south. These conditions are aiding in the recovery of fuel moistures, which should help to suppress any potential fire activity, primarily resulting in creeping surface fire behavior. Overall, the firefighting response remains robust, and the outlook is positive as containment efforts progress.
