Wildfire Status:

As of July 6, 2025, the Marble Complex wildfire, which includes the Summit Fire and the Jacket Fire, is currently active in the Klamath National Forest, encompassing approximately 375 acres. The Summit Fire has burned 325 acres and remains 0% contained, while the Jacket Fire has affected 50 acres and is 2% contained. Following a period of widespread thunderstorms and lightning earlier in the week, a total of 17 fires have been reported in the area, prompting the formation of this complex incident. The Complex Interagency Incident Management Team 9, led by Incident Commanders Clint Gould, James Snow, and Jeff Crandall, assumed command of the situation on July 5.

Currently, there are 383 personnel involved in firefighting efforts. The response includes a combination of direct and indirect tactics aimed at keeping the fire from spreading further and protecting at-risk areas. Fire activity has been characterized by uphill runs, torching, and flanking, with plans to secure the left flank and head of the Summit Fire while also scouting for opportunities to establish containment lines. The outlook for the next several days indicates potential for increased fire activity, particularly with a projected warming and drying trend, which may lead to larger fire growth.

Weather conditions have been relatively favorable as of Sunday, with sunny skies and light winds, alongside temperatures in the 70s and low 80s. However, the relative humidity has dropped to around 25%, and a 30% chance of thunderstorms is expected, which could introduce new fire starts from lightning strikes. The main concern for containment operations is the potential impact of outflow winds from these storms. Fire crews will continue to monitor and adjust their tactics in response to changing weather conditions and fire behavior in the coming days.
