Latest update
The Kelsey Peak Fire is located 15 miles west of Glendale in the Lower Rogue River Corridor on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Medford District administered lands. The Kelsey Peak Fire, along with numerous other fires, was sparked by passing thunderstorms on September 3, 2025. Initial attack by Oregon Department of Forestry’s (ODF) Southwest Oregon District was immediate. Despite aggressive firefighting tactics by local agencies over the next several days, the fire continued to grow.
Extended attack on the fire continued to challenge firefighters in steep, rugged terrain with persistent smoke halting air operations. ODF Complex Incident Management Team 1, Incident Commander Dan Quinones, was ordered on September 6 to manage suppression efforts on the Kelsey Peak Fire. Team 1 was in-briefed by ODF and BLM on Sunday, September 7, with transfer of command at 6:00 a.m. Monday, September 8.
