Helena Fire (CASHF)

Wildfire Status:

The Helena Fire, located in Trinity County, California, has been fully contained as of July 10, 2025. The incident started on July 2, 2025, at approximately 5:17 PM, and was sparked by lightning. The fire burned through an area of 116 acres, but thanks to the efforts of firefighting teams, the perimeter is now completely secured. Firefighters have successfully contained the blaze, and the current focus is on ensuring that all hot spots are fully extinguished.

In terms of personnel, there are currently 84 firefighters assigned to the incident, including multiple resources such as helicopters and hand crews that were deployed initially and throughout the fire's progression. The initial response included three engines, a 20-person Type 2 Initial Attack hand crew, two helicopters, and sixteen smoke jumpers. Additional resources were brought in as the fire activity escalated, particularly due to increased sun exposure and debris rollouts on steep slopes.

Weather conditions have played a significant role in the fire's behavior. The terrain is rugged and steep, making it challenging for ground crews to access certain areas.
