Retreat (WASES)

Wildfire Status:

The Retreat Fire, located approximately 14 miles southwest of Naches, Washington, is currently active and has burned approximately 45,601 acres. As of August 19, 2024, the fire is 85% contained, with a focus on full suppression strategies prioritizing the safety of both the public and firefighting personnel. The incident is being managed by California Interagency Incident Management Team 14, which will transition command back to local units following the end of their shift.

Firefighting efforts have mobilized a total of 228 personnel, who are actively working to control and contain the fire. Key areas affected by the fire have prompted temporary closures, including the Ahtanum State Forest and much of the Oak Creek Wildlife Area, restricting public access until at least August 23, 2024.
