Lodgepole (WAOWF)

Wildfire Status:

The Lodgepole Fire, which ignited on August 12, 2024, is currently active in the Norse Peak Wilderness, located north of Highway 410 near the Lodgepole Campground within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. As of August 19, 2024, the fire has burned approximately 35 acres and is 6% contained. The fire is primarily fueled by grass, short brush, and debris from a previous fire scar, with significant smoldering activity noted due to recent rains.

Firefighting efforts are being coordinated by California Interagency Incident Management Team 14, with a total of 8 personnel currently engaged in the response. The team is expected to transition command back to the Naches Ranger District at the end of their shift on August 19. Highway 410 remains open, but travelers are advised to exercise caution due to smoke impacts and the presence of firefighting equipment in the area.

Recent weather conditions have been favorable, with rain contributing to reduced fire activity, primarily limited to smoldering and creeping. However, ongoing monitoring is essential as conditions can change rapidly. As of now, there are no closures for forests or campgrounds related to this incident, but updates will be provided through official channels to keep the public informed about any significant changes in the fire's status.
