Lodgepole (WAOWF)

Wildfire Status:

The Lodgepole Fire, located in the Norse Peak Wilderness north of Highway 410 in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, is currently active and has burned approximately 35 acres. As of the latest update, the fire is only 6% contained. The incident began on August 12, 2024, and is believed to be caused by natural lightning. Firefighting efforts are being led by the California Interagency Incident Management Team 14, with command transitioning back to the Naches Ranger District on August 19, 2024.

Fire agencies are actively working in the area, with eight personnel currently assigned to the incident. There are no closures of Highway 410, but travelers are advised to exercise caution due to smoke and the presence of firefighting equipment. The area remains open for public access, and there are no current closures of forests or campgrounds related to the fire. Firefighters are monitoring the situation closely, as conditions can change rapidly.

Recent weather conditions have played a role in the fire's behavior. Following a rain event, most of the fire activity is now characterized by smoldering and creeping, particularly in areas with heavy fuels such as grass, brush, and debris from previous fire scars. Firefighters are focusing on managing these smoldering areas to prevent any flare-ups.
