Bivens Creek 2025
Bivens Creek is the 3rd-largest wildfire this season in Montana, burning 31 miles northeast of Dillon.

The Bivens Creek fire was reported on August 13, 2025, around 6:16. It is located approximately 15 miles north of Virginia City, MT. The fire is burning just to the southwest of Ramshorn Mountain. The fire area consists of thick subalpine fir timber, with a large "snag" or hazard tree component and a high concentration of dead and downed fuels. The cause of the fire was from a thunderstorm.
On August 30, 2025, at 6 PM, Northwest Complex Incident Management Team 8 took over command of the Fire from Northern Rockies Complex Incident Management Team 6.
September 8, 2025, at 7AM, a NWCIMT8 transferred command to a local Type 3 Incident Command Team.
The Type 3 Incident Command Team transferred command back to the local Ranger District fire staff on September 17, 2025.
Madison County Sherriff issued a warning of evacuation residences in Wisconsin Creek, Noble Creek and Indian Creek. This evacuation warning was canceled on September 12.
A National Forest System Area Closure around the Bivens Creek fire was rescinded on September 12 at 6:00 p.m.
The TFR over the fire area was released on September 12.
