Horn Fire is the 2nd-largest wildfire this season in Montana, burning 49 miles north of Ashton.

The Horn Fire was reported around 2:30 pm on Wednesday, August 13th. The cause of fire was lightning. 

As of Monday 8/25, the Horn Fire is 2,800 acres and 100% contained. Crews should be finishing rehab today and then demobilizing. 

Firefighters ask that everyone use caution when recreating to avoid causing additional fires. Secure chains when towing and check MTFireInfo.org for fire restrictions. Beaverhead and Madison County are in Stage 1 restrictions, meaning campfires are not allowed unless in a developed campground with an established ring. Always fully extinguish your campfire until it is cold to the touch.
