Shoe Fire (CASHF)

Wildfire Status:

The Shoe Fire, located approximately 12 miles southwest of Big Bend, California, remains an active wildfire despite significant firefighting efforts. As of October 9, 2024, the fire has been fully contained at 100%. It was classified as a Full-Suppression Wildfire, with firefighters from the US Forest Service and CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit working vigorously to control the blaze. The fire spread rapidly uphill and into difficult terrain, but thanks to recent precipitation and effective suppression strategies, it has remained within established containment lines.

Fire agencies have implemented various measures in response to the fire, including air and ground operations. They are actively collaborating with resource advisors to repair and protect areas impacted by the fire, focusing on the safeguarding of significant cultural resources and habitats threatened by the blaze. Although evacuations have been rescinded, forest area and road closures remain in effect to ensure public safety and facilitate firefighting operations.
