Shelly Fire (CAKNF)

Wildfire Status:

The Shelly Fire, which broke out on July 3, 2024, in the Klamath National Forest, is now reported as 100% contained as of August 6, 2024. The fire impacted an area of approximately 15,520 acres and was primarily a vegetation fire. Following its containment, Klamath National Forest fire personnel will continue to patrol the area to monitor for any potential flare-ups. Additionally, a Burned Area Response Team (BAER) has been assigned to assess the post-fire conditions and implement necessary recovery measures.

Currently, all evacuation orders have been lifted, allowing residents to return safely to their homes. However, an area closure remains in effect surrounding the fire zone to ensure the safety of both the public and fire personnel. The Klamath National Forest has also implemented stricter fire restrictions, limiting campfires and stove fires to designated developed areas, in response to ongoing fire risks in the region.

As a precautionary measure, a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is in place to prevent drones from interfering with firefighting operations. The public is reminded that violations of this restriction could lead to significant legal consequences.
