Wildfire Status:

The Greer Fire, which ignited around 11 AM on May 13, 2025, is currently active and has spread significantly, burning approximately 19,121 acres in the vicinity of Greer, Arizona. The fire is being driven by strong winds and is advancing eastward across ridges characterized by grass and pinyon-juniper. As of the latest reports, the containment of the fire stands at 0%, and the cause is still under investigation.

In response to the fire, fire agencies have mobilized approximately 680 personnel to combat the blaze. Evacuation shelters have been established at the Apache County Fairgrounds in St. Johns and the Community Center in Alpine, which can accommodate both small and large animals.
