Paradise Fire (NMGNF)

Wildfire Status:

The Paradise Fire, which started on May 26, 2025, is currently located approximately 13 miles south of Quemado, New Mexico, and has burned a total of 727 acres. As of the latest updates, the fire is 92% contained, with firefighting efforts focused on completing containment and suppression repair. The Gila Las Cruces Type 3 Incident Command Team is managing the incident, having taken over operations on May 27, and they are employing a full-suppression strategy to control the fire's spread.

Fire agencies have deployed a total of 125 personnel to the scene, actively working to monitor the fire perimeter and prevent any further spread. The current situation indicates that the fire burned at low to moderate intensity, with a significant portion of the area remaining unburned within the perimeter. The analysis shows that much of the affected area consists of grass, brush, pinon-juniper, and ponderosa pine, with minimal impact on the underlying organic matter in many locations.
