Cedar Fire (AZCNF)

Wildfire Status:

The Cedar Fire, reported on May 20, 2025, near Oracle in the Santa Catalina Ranger District, has currently burned approximately 10 acres. As of the latest updates, the fire is 50% contained. The Santa Catalina Ranger District has deployed a Type 4 Incident Organization to manage the full suppression initial attack, utilizing local resources to combat the fire. Crews have been actively working to address hotspots along the perimeter and are engaged in mop-up procedures to ensure the fire does not escape control lines.

Weather conditions in the area may pose challenges for firefighting efforts. A warming trend is forecasted, with temperatures expected to reach the upper 80s to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Winds are initially blowing from the southwest and are expected to shift to the southeast at speeds of 5 to 10 mph, increasing to 7 to 12 mph later in the day. With low humidity levels (4-7%) and no expected precipitation, these conditions could contribute to increased fire activity.

Authorities have advised visitors to avoid the area as firefighting operations continue. The cause of the wildfire remains under investigation, and the situation will be monitored closely as crews work towards full containment.
