15,363 acre wildfire (58% contained)
Toquerville, Utah, United States
Forsyth
Wildfire Status:
The Forsyth wildfire, which ignited on June 19th, 2025, near St. George, Utah, has grown to approximately 15,363 acres and is currently 58% contained. The fire, initially sparked by lightning, has been fueled by hot, dry weather and strong winds, contributing to its rapid spread. Firefighters are actively engaged in patrolling and enhancing containment lines around the Pine Valley community, while also scouting for additional opportunities to control the fire on its southwest and eastern flanks.
Fire agencies are employing a range of resources, with a total of 589 personnel currently deployed to combat the blaze. The incident is managed by Tony DeMasters and the Great Basin Complex Incident Management Team 2. The communities of Pine Valley, Grass Valley, and Pinto remain under a "Ready" evacuation status, indicating that residents should be prepared to evacuate if necessary. A closure order is also in effect for the Pine Valley Ranger District to ensure safety and facilitate firefighting efforts.
Weather conditions are posing a significant challenge to firefighting operations. Elevated fire weather risks persist due to hot temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds. These conditions are expected to exacerbate fire activity, particularly in areas with dry vegetation. As firefighters continue to monitor and manage the southern edge of the fire, there are concerns over potential fire movement towards critically dry fuels outside the wilderness boundary, especially if control measures do not take effect. The forecast indicates that the situation could remain volatile, with fire potential remaining high in the coming days.
