Dragon Bravo Fire (AZGCP)

Wildfire Status:

The Dragon Bravo Fire is an active wildfire located on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, having started on July 4, 2025, due to lightning. Currently, the fire covers approximately 22 acres and is being managed with a confine/contain strategy. This approach allows the fire to fulfill its natural role within a defined area while taking necessary actions to limit its spread. As of now, there is no containment achieved, with 0% of the perimeter secured. Firefighters are closely monitoring the situation with a total of 20 personnel on-site.

In response to the situation, a transition to a larger Type 3 Incident Management Team is scheduled for July 9, 2025, which will bring additional resources to support operations on the North Rim. The incident is being managed by the North Zone Interagency Fire Management, which includes the National Park Service and the U.S. Forest Service. Fire crews are utilizing real-time weather data and on-the-ground observations to guide their decisions.

Weather conditions have been sunny with light winds, contributing to moderate fire behavior and growth. Smoke is visible in areas such as the North Rim developed area and the South Rim Historic District, and may affect visibility on roads throughout the park, but there are currently no threats to infrastructure or public safety. Fire officials continue to monitor the situation closely as they prepare for the transition to an expanded management team.
