Wildfire Status:

The Marsh Creek wildfire, located approximately 12 miles southeast of Lincoln, Montana, has been active since August 27, 2024. As of the latest reports, the fire has burned an estimated 151 acres, with zero percent of its perimeter contained. Firefighting efforts are being coordinated by the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, which has deployed a combination of aviation support and local resources to manage the situation. The incident commander, Jesse Riddle, has emphasized a cautious approach due to the hazardous conditions presented by dense timber and both live and dead trees impacted by beetle infestations.

Current firefighting operations focus on reducing hazardous fuels in areas close to private properties, particularly in the Canyon Creek community, which lies about three miles east of the fire. Crews have successfully completed fuel removal efforts in the North Fork of the Prickly Pear drainage and McQuithy Gulch, with ongoing operations in the South Fork of Poorman drainage.
