Marsh Creek (MTHLF)

Wildfire Status:

The Marsh Creek wildfire, located approximately 12 miles southeast of Lincoln, Montana, has been actively burning since August 27, 2024. It currently covers an area of 151 acres, but as of the latest updates, it remains 0% contained. The fire is fueled by dense timber, including both live and beetle-killed trees, as well as dead and downed vegetation. Fire agencies have noted that hazardous fuel reduction efforts are underway to protect nearby communities, particularly in the Canyon Creek area, which is about 3 miles east of the fire.

Firefighting efforts have involved the deployment of both aviation resources and local ground crews, with a total of 12 personnel currently assigned to the incident. Recent updates indicate that despite previous concerns, there has been no significant growth in the fire's footprint over the last week, aided by beneficial rainfall. Continuous work is being done to remove hazardous fuels in critical areas, with successful operations reported in the North Fork of the Prickly Pear drainage and McQuithy Gulch.
