Dollar Fire (IDBOF)

Wildfire Status:

The Dollar Fire, part of the West Mountain Fires complex, is currently located approximately 18 miles northeast of Cascade, Idaho. As of the latest update, the fire has burned an estimated 4,360 acres, with only 8% of its perimeter contained. The incident is managed by the Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team Three, led by Incident Commander Bill Waln. The fire, which originated on August 5, 2024, is believed to have been caused by lightning and is primarily affecting areas with timber, including Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir, along with significant dead and down fuel due to recent bug kill and fire scars.

Firefighting efforts are being coordinated with minimal personnel currently engaged, focusing on monitoring fire behavior and movement, particularly near Square Top and Blackmare Lakes.
