Dollar Fire (IDBOF)

Wildfire Status:

The Dollar Fire, part of the West Mountain Fires in Idaho, is currently burning approximately 4,360 acres with only 8% of its perimeter contained. Managed by the Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team Three under Incident Commander Bill Waln, the fire's origin dates back to August 5, 2024. The fire is located about 18 miles northeast of Cascade, Idaho, and is fueled primarily by timber, including Ponderosa Pine, Lodgepole Pine, and Douglas Fir, with significant dead and down timber present due to previous bug infestations and fire scars.

In terms of firefighting efforts, there are currently minimal personnel actively engaged, with a focus on monitoring fire movement in sensitive areas near Square Top and Blackmare Lakes. The agency's planned actions include ongoing assessments of fire behavior. Current weather conditions are favorable, with cool temperatures and higher humidity expected to limit fire activity and potential growth significantly over the next few days.
