Wildfire Status:

The Vista Fire, which ignited on July 7, 2024, in the San Bernardino National Forest, has now been fully contained as of December 31, 2024. This wildfire burned approximately 2,936 acres before being brought under control, with all firefighting efforts successfully concluding. The California Interagency Incident Team 15 managed the fire until it was turned over to the San Bernardino National Forest for monitoring and oversight.

Currently, there are no active firefighting operations as the fire is fully contained. Fire agencies have transitioned to a monitoring phase, which is expected to continue until significant precipitation occurs or throughout December. A total of 297 personnel were involved in the incident, ensuring that the area remains secure and assessing any potential risks.

In terms of weather conditions, the area is experiencing hot and dry weather, which is a concern for potential flare-ups or new fire incidents. As a precaution, the San Bernardino National Forest has implemented increased fire restrictions, limiting campfires to designated developed areas. Additionally, Forest Service Roads remain closed in accordance with a current closure order, and residents are encouraged to stay informed through the Telephone Emergency Notification System (TENS) for any updates regarding safety and evacuation protocols.

Drones are prohibited in the area due to the risk they pose to firefighting operations, with a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in effect. Violators of this TFR could face serious penalties. Overall, while the Vista Fire is contained, the ongoing monitoring and fire restrictions highlight the importance of vigilance in fire-prone regions.
