Wildfire Status:
The Vista Fire, which was reported on July 7, 2024, in the San Bernardino National Forest, has now been fully contained after burning approximately 2,936 acres. As of the latest update, the fire is 100% contained, and fire agencies are transitioning to monitoring the area to ensure that no flare-ups occur, especially through December or until significant precipitation is received. The incident has been managed by the California Interagency Incident Team 15, which has since reverted management back to the San Bernardino National Forest.
In response to the fire, various fire agencies deployed a total of 297 personnel to combat the blaze. The firefighting efforts included establishing road closures on Forest Service Roads, which are detailed in a current closure order accessible through official channels. Additionally, the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department and Fire Department have utilized the Telephone Emergency Notification System (TENS) to keep the public informed about any potential dangers or evacuation orders.
In light of the recent fire activity, increased fire restrictions have been implemented within the San Bernardino National Forest, limiting campfires to designated developed areas. A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is also in place to prevent drones from interfering with aerial firefighting efforts, highlighting the seriousness of maintaining clear airspace for emergency operations. The overall weather conditions and ongoing monitoring will play a critical role in the continued management of the area post-fire.
