Vista Fire (CABDF)

Wildfire Status:

The Vista Fire, which began on July 7, 2024, at approximately 9:51 AM in the San Bernardino National Forest, has burned around 2,936 acres and is now fully contained. Fire agencies have confirmed that the fire is 100% contained, and the response has transitioned to monitoring and assessing the area for any potential flare-ups. A total of 297 personnel have been involved in firefighting efforts, and the incident has now been reverted to the San Bernardino National Forest management.

In terms of road access, several Forest Service Roads are currently closed as part of ongoing safety measures. The San Bernardino County Sheriff Department and Fire Department are utilizing the Telephone Emergency Notification System (TENS) to rapidly inform the public about any evolving situations or safety concerns in the area. Additional fire restrictions have been implemented, limiting campfires to certain developed areas to prevent any further fire risks.

Weather conditions in the region remain a concern, with hot and dry weather expected to persist throughout the week. This could pose a risk for any remaining hot spots, necessitating continued vigilance from fire response teams. The current monitoring strategy includes surveillance of the area until significant precipitation occurs, which would further mitigate fire risks. Overall, while the fire is contained, the management teams remain prepared for any changes in the situation, ensuring community safety and environmental protection.
