Bridge Fire, 10/23/24 Update (CAANF)

Wildfire Status:

As of October 23, 2024, the Bridge Fire in the Angeles National Forest has shown significant improvement due to favorable weather conditions, particularly a notable decrease in wind speeds. Firefighters and aerial support have made considerable progress in containing the fire within its current footprint, aided by extensive aerial fire retardant applications in the past 48 hours. Although the fire is nearing 99% containment, unburned vegetation within the perimeter may still flare up, leading to visible smoke and flames in some areas.

In response to the ongoing fire, the Angeles National Forest has implemented a closure order effective from October 18, 2024, through December 31, 2025, restricting access to specific roads, trails, and facilities impacted by the fire. Residents affected by the Bridge Fire can access support through online resources from both San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties for damage inspections and recovery information.

Road closures remain in effect in the vicinity of the fire, including East Fork Road, portions of Big Pines Highway, and other local roads. Additionally, a Burned Area Emergency Response Team has been studying the effects of the fire on the forest, with findings recently released.
