2025 BDU - Lake Fire (CABDF)

Wildfire Status:

The Lake Fire, which ignited on June 28, 2025, has burned approximately 489.9 acres and is now fully contained at 100%. The incident was managed under Unified Command, involving the United States Forest Service (USFS) for the San Bernardino National Forest, CAL FIRE San Bernardino Unit, and the San Bernardino County Fire. Fire crews are currently focused on monitoring the area and performing mop-up operations where necessary. Suppression repair efforts have been completed, which includes restoring dozer and handlines to mitigate erosion and encourage natural vegetation regrowth.

All evacuation warnings have been lifted, indicating that residents in the vicinity can return safely. However, Cal Trans has announced that Highway 138 will remain closed for an undetermined period to facilitate repairs related to damage caused by the fire. As a precautionary measure, a Forest Order for Elevated Fire Restrictions will take effect on July 1, 2025, limiting certain activities such as target shooting and the use of wood and charcoal fires across most campsites and day-use areas in the San Bernardino National Forest. Propane-fueled grills and stoves will still be permitted.

As the 4th of July holiday approaches, authorities are reminding the public that fireworks are strictly prohibited on public lands, reinforcing the importance of fire safety during this time. The cause of the Lake Fire remains under investigation, and efforts continue to ensure that the area is safe for visitors and residents alike.
