Wildfire Status:
The Lake Fire, currently threatening the Silverwood Lake and Hesperia area, has burned approximately 478 acres and remains without containment as of the latest update. The incident is under Unified Command, involving the U.S. Forest Service, CAL FIRE San Bernardino Unit, San Bernardino County Fire, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Fire crews are actively working through the night to establish containment lines to protect nearby communities.
Current weather conditions are posing significant challenges for firefighting efforts. Gusty south winds, ranging from 15 to 25 mph, along with low humidity levels, are expected to persist through the evening. However, conditions are forecasted to improve overnight, with the possibility of increased winds returning on Sunday afternoon. In response to the ongoing threat, mandatory evacuation orders are in effect for areas south of Highway 138 between Interstate 15 and Highway 173.
