Goat Fire has burned 178 acres, burning 16 miles north of Roslyn and has grown 107 acres in the last 24 hours and spread north.
Latest update
The Goat Fire is located in a remote, mountainous wilderness area. Currently, the fire has been assessed by shared resources from Three Queens Fire, and helicopter buckets are being used in suppression efforts.
The strategic objectives for the Goat Fire are to ensure public and firefighter safety by maintaining and enforcing established evacuation levels and area closures, while providing accurate, timely information to the affected communities. Incident management will focus on achieving full containment by using tactics adapted to steep terrain, heavy fuels, and wind driven spread in the sub-alpine fir stands. Additional objectives include protecting key natural resources, managing closures to safeguard public access routes, and coordinating operations across local, state, and federal partners.
