Miller Peak Fire (MTLNF)

Wildfire Status:

The Miller Peak Fire, reported on July 14, 2024, is currently located about 8 miles southeast of Missoula, Montana, in the Plant Creek drainage. As of the latest update, the fire has burned approximately 2,724 acres and is now fully contained, with 100% of its perimeter secured. Fire management teams, including a Type 5 Incident Commander, are overseeing the ongoing suppression repair work, which involves heavy equipment to restore dozer lines and mitigate damage caused by the fire.

Recent assessments indicate high severity fire impacts in the Plant Creek drainage area, resulting in increased runoff and erosion, which poses a significant risk for debris flows.
