Wildfire Status:

The Big Creek Fire, located approximately 9.5 miles west of Stevensville, Montana, is currently active and has shown signs of decreased activity due to targeted water drops from aviation resources and recent rainfall. The fire is situated in a challenging terrain comprising rocky, steep areas near the valley bottom of the Big Creek Drainage, extending up to the snow line. Despite the reduced intensity, fire management teams remain vigilant as conditions can change rapidly.

Firefighting efforts have included personnel monitoring and directing helicopter operations from strategic points on the southern side of Big Creek. As part of the response measures, a closure order has been implemented for the Big Creek Trailhead to ensure public safety and facilitate firefighting operations.
