Wildfire Status:

The Logan Fire, currently burning in the Payette National Forest, has reached an estimated size of 15,638 acres. As of October 19, 2024, the fire is being managed as a Type 4 Incident, with only 10% of its perimeter contained. Recent weather conditions have been favorable for fire suppression efforts; the area received approximately 0.5 inches of rain along with a trace of snow, which has significantly slowed the fire's spread, particularly in the northeastern and eastern flanks. A new weather system is expected to bring additional moisture over the weekend, further reducing the potential for fire growth.

Fire response teams are currently focused on suppression repair efforts, particularly in the Edwardsburg area. A hand crew and an engine are actively patrolling for hotspots, clearing fallen trees from roadways, and conducting chipping and burning of accumulated woody materials. The Valley County Sheriff's Office has lifted evacuation orders and reopened the Warren-Profile Gap Road, though travelers are advised to exercise caution due to potential rolling debris and fallen trees in the area.

While efforts continue to manage the fire and mitigate risks, certain road and trail closures remain in effect under the jurisdiction of the Forest Service. Updates and detailed maps of these closures can be found on the Payette National Forest's website. The situation remains dynamic, and the public is encouraged to stay informed through official channels as the fire response progresses.
