Wildfire Status:

The Logan Fire, currently active in the Payette National Forest, has seen significant progress in containment efforts, with approximately 10% of its perimeter secured. The fire has burned an estimated 15,836 acres, but recent weather conditions have aided firefighting efforts. Last week, the area received about 0.5 inches of rain and a trace of snow, which helped to moderate the fire's spread. The incident has been downgraded to a Type 4 status, focusing primarily on fire line suppression repair, particularly in the Edwardsburg area. The potential for further fire growth is limited, with only the northeastern and eastern flanks remaining vulnerable.

Fire agencies have deployed a hand crew and one engine tasked with ongoing suppression repair and monitoring for hotspots. These teams are also engaged in the removal of fallen trees along roadways and conducting controlled burning of accumulated woody debris. As part of the response, the Valley County Sheriff's Office has lifted evacuation orders and reopened local roads, including the Warren-Profile Gap Road (also known as the Big Creek Road and Elk Summit Road). Travelers are advised to exercise caution due to potential hazards like rolling debris and fallen trees in the affected areas.

Despite the improvements in the situation, there are still Forest Service road and trail closures in effect. For detailed information on these closures, officials recommend checking the Payette National Forest's alerts page. Further moisture is anticipated over the weekend, which is expected to continue reducing fire activity and the necessity for extensive firefighting operations. The Payette National Forest is now in command of the incident, with updates provided as needed through their dedicated information line.
