Limepoint Fire (IDPAF)

Wildfire Status:

The Limepoint Fire, which has been active since July 24, 2024, is currently listed as being 99% contained and has burned approximately 33,084 acres. The incident has transitioned to a Type 4 classification, with the management of the fire being handed back to the Payette National Forest. Recent weather conditions, including moisture, have significantly reduced fire behavior, limiting it to smoldering and creeping phases.

Fire agencies, notably the Fire Department New York Incident Management team, have made substantial progress in suppressing the fire over the past two weeks. As part of ongoing efforts, Burned Area Emergency Recovery (BAER) work is being implemented to stabilize the affected landscape and prevent erosion, particularly where vegetation has been lost. A fire intensity map is in development to identify areas that may be at higher risk for erosion as a result of the fire.

Furthermore, land managers are assessing the current fire closure areas and anticipate a reduction in these zones soon, contingent upon ensuring safety for both the public and firefighters. All fire restrictions within the Payette National Forest have been lifted; however, visitors are reminded to never leave campfires unattended and to ensure they are fully extinguished.
