Limepoint Fire (IDPAF)

Wildfire Status:

The Limepoint Fire, which has been burning in the United States, is now 100% contained as of October 22, 2024. This incident also encompassed the Oxbow and Cliff Mountain Fires, all of which are currently under control with no imminent threat of further spread. However, the potential for isolated hotspots remains until snow covers the affected areas. Fire management teams are actively monitoring these hotspots and will deploy resources as necessary to suppress any flare-ups that may occur.

In addition to containment efforts, Burned Area Emergency Recovery (BAER) operations are underway to mitigate sediment runoff into streams and stabilize the landscape before winter. This work focuses particularly on areas that experienced high fire intensity, which constitute approximately 7% of the total burned area. The aim is to prevent erosion caused by the loss of vegetation from the fires.

There are currently no fire closures related to the Limepoint Fire, allowing public access to the area. However, caution is advised for anyone entering burned landscapes due to the presence of unstable terrain, hazard trees, and the risk of flash flooding or debris flows. It is important for visitors to remain vigilant and heed any warnings or directions from fire agency personnel. Additionally, all fire restrictions in the Payette National Forest have been lifted, but visitors are reminded to ensure campfires are completely extinguished before leaving.
