Limepoint Fire (IDPAF)

Wildfire Status:

The Limepoint Fire, which has burned approximately 33,084 acres, is now 100% contained. This fire event included the Oxbow and Cliff Mountain Fires, which were managed as part of the Limepoint incident. Currently, there is no threat of further fire spread; however, fire managers are keeping an eye out for isolated hotspots that may flare up until snow covers the affected areas. Resources will be deployed to suppress any hotspots as needed.

In addition to firefighting efforts, Burned Area Emergency Recovery (BAER) work is ongoing to mitigate sediment runoff into streams and stabilize the burned landscape before winter. This recovery work is particularly focused on areas that experienced high fire intensity, which constitutes about 7% of the total burned area. Meanwhile, the fire closure for the Limepoint Fire has been lifted, allowing public access to the area, although caution is advised due to potential hazards in the burned landscape, such as unstable terrain and hazard trees.

With the fire restrictions across the Payette National Forest lifted, visitors are reminded to practice safe campfire management, including never leaving fires unattended and ensuring they are fully extinguished. Reports of abandoned hunter warming fires have been noted, which divert firefighting resources from ongoing recovery efforts.
