Limepoint Fire (IDPAF)

Wildfire Status:

The Limepoint Fire, which includes the Oxbow and Cliff Mountain Fires, is currently 100% contained. As of the latest update, there is no threat of fire spread, although fire managers are monitoring for isolated hotspots that may flare up until snow covers the interior areas of the burned landscape. Firefighting resources will be deployed as necessary to suppress any hotspots that are detected.

Burned Area Emergency Recovery (BAER) efforts are ongoing to stabilize the affected regions and prevent sediment runoff into streams. This work is crucial as it aims to mitigate erosion caused by the loss of vegetation following the fires. A fire intensity map indicates that approximately 7% of the burned area experienced high fire intensity, highlighting where recovery efforts are being concentrated.

All fire closures related to the Limepoint Fire have been lifted, allowing public access to the area. However, caution is advised due to potential hazards such as unstable terrain, hazard trees, and the risk of flash flooding or debris flows in the burned landscape. Additionally, abandoned human-caused fires are being reported, which divert firefighting resources away from recovery efforts. All fire restrictions on the Payette National Forest have been lifted, but visitors are reminded to be vigilant and attend to campfires to ensure they are completely extinguished.
