Shoe Fire (CASHF)

Wildfire Status:

The Shoe Fire, currently active 12 miles southwest of Big Bend, California, has reached full containment as firefighters have successfully established containment lines around the fire's perimeter. Despite the rugged terrain and limited access to the area, fire crews from the US Forest Service and CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit have been actively engaged in suppressing the fire using both aerial support and ground teams. The fire was noted for its rapid uphill movement, but recent precipitation has aided in controlling its spread.

As part of the response effort, forest and road closures are in effect to ensure public safety, though evacuation orders have been rescinded. Firefighters are also collaborating with resource advisors to repair areas affected by the fire, protecting significant cultural resources and habitats within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Additionally, the forest has issued an Emergency Forest Closure Order, which is subject to adjustment based on the fire's progression.

Weather conditions have been favorable, contributing to the successful suppression efforts. However, the area remains under a Temporary Flight Restriction to facilitate safe aerial firefighting operations, and the public is advised to stay clear of the incident area. As the situation evolves, continued efforts will focus on rehabilitation and restoration of the impacted landscapes.
