Pomas Fire 2025 2025
Pomas Fire 2025 has burned 3,618 acres, burning 38 miles north of Cashmere.
Latest update
The Pomas Fire was started by lightning in the Glacier Peak Wilderness and was first reported on the morning of June 13, 2025. Over the next several days firefighters conducted extensive air attack, dropping nearly 400,000 gallons of water on the fire. Because of extremely heavy fuel loads of dead and downed timber from the 2015 Wolverine Fire, aerial attack was ineffective in stopping the fire. Inaccessible by road, the fire is burning in very steep and rugged terrain. There are very limited opportunities for firefighters to work directly, safely, and effectively at the fire’s edge.
Management of the Pomas Fire returned to the local unit on August 19th.
