Welder Complex (TXTXS)

Wildfire Status:

The Welder Complex wildfire, which ignited on March 4, 2025, north of Sinton, Texas, has now reached a size of 840 acres with 100% containment achieved. The fire was initially spurred by extremely high fire danger conditions and very high winds, which significantly contributed to its rapid spread towards populated areas. Fire departments from San Patricio County and neighboring regions responded promptly, with the Texas A&M Forest Service playing a central role in managing the incident under unified command to ensure the safety of the public and protect property.

As of the latest updates, all evacuation orders have been lifted, including those affecting Welder Elementary School, which was evacuated in the fire's early hours. Residents displaced by the fire were temporarily housed at the Sinton Community Center. Firefighters remain actively engaged in suppressing any remaining hotspots and monitoring the affected areas to prevent flare-ups, especially in light of the ongoing windy conditions which could pose a risk of re-ignition.

The incident was caused by powerlines and roadside ignitions, as confirmed by investigations.
