River Bluff Fire Active 2026

The River Bluff Fire in Atacosa County started on August 31, 2026, under elevated fire conditions. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters, aircraft, heavy equipment at 3:54 pm. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local departments.

Update - September 1, 2026 - 3:10 pm - Fire activity has slightly increased on the south end of the fire. Low rate of spread with backing and mostly understory burn. Dozers have completed line from the west flank, east flank and head of the fire. Dozers will continue using dozers to complete containment on the south end of the fire.
