Sherra Fire has burned 32 acres, burning 6 miles south of Lindale.

The Sherra Fire started on the afternoon of February 24, 2026 approximately 6 miles northwest of Tyler, Texas and was initially responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments.
This fire started during a period of elevated fire weather, including higher than normal temperatures, and low fuel moisture levels. These current conditions are resulting in a shift of large fire potential with brief periods of high resistance to control.
As of late night on February 24, 2026, the fire is 100% contained. The fire will be monitored by locals overnight and one crew will be back to the fire on February 25, 2026. This is the last planned update for this fire.
