The Pigeon Fire started on August 20, 2026, in Jack County and was responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 3:31 pm and quickly responded. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments.
Aviation resources including Large Air Tankers (LATs) and Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) are being ordered to assist in suppression efforts.
According to the Jack County Emergency Management - evacuation orders have been lifted.
