The Hutchinson Fire started just before noon on March 24, 2026 and is located approximately 2.5 miles northeast of Sanford, TX. The fire was initially responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters, aircraft and heavy equipment.
March 26, 5:00 PM - Crews are continuing to move up the east flank of the fire, enhancing containment line. There is a lot of wind on the fire. Crews will return to the fire Friday, March 27.
March 27, 1:00 PM - Firefighters will continue to patrol the fire today due to high winds anticipated.
March 27, 4:15 PM - The fire is 100% contained - this is the last planned update for this fire.
